THE NICOLAS SHADOW

Electronics and Coding for David Gurman's installation "The Nicholas Shadow", a mechanically tolled Russian church bell in a former confessional chapel. The bell tolling is directed by a computer that is actively searching the web for information on civilian deaths in Iraq. On an hourly basis the most up to date daily death toll is counted out in bell tolls.

For this project I used AppleScript, an application called SiteSucker, Max/MSP, an Arduino board and some basic electronic components.
